 FAQs

  • The cost of our New Patient Examination is dependent on your age -

    £85.00 for adults

£55.00 for children aged between 13 to 19 years old

£44.00 for children aged between 6 to 12 years old

A dental examination is a comprehensive evaluation of your oral health, which is most commonly performed by a dentist. During a dental examination, the following components are typically included:

Review of medical history: Your clinician will review your medical history to identify any medical conditions or medications that may affect your oral health.

Visual examination: We inspect your teeth, gums, tongue, and other soft tissues in your mouth to check for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and other oral health issues.

X-rays: X-rays may be taken to detect any dental problems that may not be visible during the visual examination, such as cavities between teeth or bone loss due to gum disease.

Bite and jaw evaluation: Your clinician will examine your bite to ensure that your upper and lower teeth fit together properly. They may also evaluate your jaw joint for any signs of dysfunction or pain.

Oral cancer screening: We will perform an oral cancer screening to check for any signs of abnormal tissue or growths in your mouth.

After the examination, your clinician will discuss their findings with you and make recommendations for any necessary treatments or preventive measures to maintain your oral health. It is typically recommended to have a dental examination every six months to ensure that any dental issues can be detected and treated early, before they develop into more serious problems.

  • As a pay-as-you-go (PAYG) patient at Plumfield, you pay for your appointments and treatment as and when you have them. This includes any and all emergency or unscheduled appointments during or outside of normal working hours.

Our membership plans allow you to spread the cost of your routine dental care through a convenient monthly direct debit. Not only is the annual cost of your examinations, hygiene appointments and x-rays cheaper than that on PAYG, you also benefit from an exclusive 20% discount on any other treatment.

Being a member also takes the stress out of dental emergencies. Should you need us during or outside of our normal working hours, you can make an appointment free of charge.

  • Unfortunately, the practice does not have a car park. However, there are pay and display car parks and disk zones for 1 hour and 2 hours nearby that you can use during your visit. Should you require a parking disk we are able to provide you with one.

We understand that parking can be a hassle. Therefore, we recommend that you plan your parking arrangements in advance to ensure that you arrive on time for your appointment.

If you have any questions or concerns about parking, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly reception team who will be happy to assist you in any way they can.

  • Here at Plumfield, we understand the importance of making dental care as accessible as possible.

Being a traditional Victorian building, the practice is split over multiple floors, and there are a number of sandstone steps that lead to the front entrance.

We have, therefore, created an additional entrance to the back of the building, leading to a waiting room, surgery and toilet that is all on one level.

If this entrance is more suited to you, please let one of our reception team know so that they can make a note on your records and give you full instructions on how to find/use this entrance.

  • The patient portal helps optimise your pre appointment journey with secure, remote form filling.

Ahead of your appointment you will be provided a link to access your personal portal (generally included within your appointment reminders). This allows you to complete any necessary information that we require before your visit.

    The benefits of our patient portal include;

Saves you time during your visit.

Minimises the risk of errors within your personal information as you are completing it yourself.

Helps the practice towards our ‘go paperless’ goal by maintaining digital records.

  • Once you have completed your new patient examination, you will be invited to make your future examination and hygiene appointments online, allowing you to pick a time and date that works the best for you.

If you would prefer for our reception team to make your appointments, that’s no problem, you will have the option to decline online bookings.
